(*UPDATE*: 7-15: well, now I’ve gone and fractured a bone in my ankle. Not sure when I can resume regular hikes up the stairs & regular hours, but I hope soon!! Thanks. See above for latest! )
(UPDATE: The studio will be closed July 11 & 12 as I will be traveling out of town for a funeral. We’ll be open several days during Water Festival – look for the sign out front. Thanks!)
Happy JULY! I’m busy in the studio & will open this month for FIRST FRIDAY, July 5, 5-8 p.m. Then, hours will be on the flexible side, with some extra open days during WATER FESTIVAL! :0) See you soon!

Upcycled journal/sketchbooks for your favorite creative pirates and mermaids! These 6X8+-inch blank books feature room for sketches, poems, and directions to treasure – buried on land or at sea. The covers are collaged with a copy of a c. 1745 map of the Carolinas coast, and graced with fun charms dangling from vintage clock chain. Inside each back cover is a vintage library card and pocket, with “Private” stamped from an old office stamp. The paper is acid-free Strathmore 400 drawing paper, 24 pages. Click on the picture to sail over to my Etsy shop, or visit my downtown Beaufort studio or The Beaufort Emporium on Bay Street!
Enjoy Spring Fling-ing in Beaufort! Our next First Friday will include ART WALK, plus entertainment, artists in action, and even pets available for adoption. Mark your calendar for April 5 from 5 pm to 8 pm, and come say hello in my artsyletters studio at 811 Bay Street #3 (upstairs).
The street will be closed, so it will be a great outing for the whole family. See you there!
Got an all-things-Irish-lover on your gift list? Or perhaps you are beckoned the Emerald Isle yourself? I’ve had fun adding a couple of items to the shop for the occasion!
The small upcycled journal/sketchbook features a copy of an 1888 map of Ireland that I’ve antiqued, plus some fun jaunty charms dangling from a bit o’ vintage clock chain. There’s a fun vintage library card pocket in the back, too, and 24 pages of best quality Strahmore 400 drawing paper for your thoughts or sketches.
The shiny gold bookmark also features a few vintage clock chain links, plus a vintage green lucite jewel connector and a fun, gold-plated steel tag, laser-engraved with a shamrock and these words: “A good friend is like a four leaf clover; hard to find and lucky to have.”
Wishing you all kinds of luck and magic this month, and green, if you are still snow-and-ice-bound in your corner of the world!
I was thrilled artsyletters was the Spotlight Business for First Friday this month. And icing on the cupcake was this TV coverage from Lyndsey Gough of WTOC in Savannah! Enjoy a taste of the celebration. (Ignore the windblown hair!) Link and pictures below.
This Friday, March 1 from 5 to 8 p.m., downtown Beaufort celebrates the 5th anniversary of FIRST FRIDAY!
Kick off March with a “Stop and Shop” evening in downtown Beaufort this week. Thanks to the hard work of many, spearheaded by Mary and Eric at Thibault Gallery, FIRST FRIDAY is celebrating its 5th anniversary. (Thibault Gallery is, too – go by and give them some love!)
I’ll be hanging out at the clock downtown with Rhonda and Bernadette from the City of Beaufort. Come by and say hello! And then go check on Jeff, who will be minding the store at my studio at 811 Bay Street upstairs, with help from the wonderful Kim Poovey. Need some “literary art with a vintage vibe”? We’ve got you covered with my handcrafted gifts for readers and writers. Many of my items are also available at The Beaufort Emporium – be sure to enjoy the unique gifts and treats you can find there, seven days a week!
Enjoy an evening of strolling, entertainment, refreshments, catching up with old friends and making new ones – and maybe a little local shopping and dining! (If it sprinkles, we won’t let it dampen our spirits. It will just help green up our beautiful town for March.) See you Friday evening!
